What data I collect and why
I may collect and process personal data in connection with the funeral and wedding celebrant services I provide, and my related administrative tasks (such as invoicing). This typically includes your name, contact details, and information you share with me about the ceremony you'd like me to create. The legal basis for this processing is that it is necessary to provide services under the contract we enter into, or to take steps at your request before entering into that contract.
Special category data
In preparing your ceremony, you may share information with me that counts as "special category data" under UK data protection law — for example, details of religious or spiritual beliefs, family relationships, or health information. I only process this information with your explicit consent, given when we discuss the content of your ceremony together. You can withdraw this consent at any time by contacting me, though this may affect my ability to deliver the ceremony as we'd planned it.
How I store your data
Data may be stored on paper, electronically, or on cloud-based systems (including Wix, which hosts this website). All reasonable security measures are in place to protect your information, regardless of format.
How long I keep your data
I keep your data only for as long as it's needed for the purpose it was collected — generally, for the duration of arranging and delivering your ceremony, plus any period I'm required to retain records for tax or legal purposes (for example, financial records are typically kept for six years in line with HMRC requirements). When data is no longer needed, it is securely destroyed.
Who I share your data with
I do not routinely share your personal data with third parties. On occasion, I may need to share certain details with a third party involved in your ceremony — for example, a venue, funeral director, register office, or musician — but I will only do this with your permission.
I may also disclose personal data to professional advisers where necessary to obtain or maintain insurance, manage risk, receive professional advice, or establish/defend legal claims — and where required by law.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data I hold about you, and to ask me to correct or erase it. This does not include data I'm required to keep for legal, tax, or administrative reasons. To make a request, please contact me in writing using the details above, including enough information for me to identify you.
If you have any concerns about how I handle your data, please contact me directly first. If you're not satisfied with my response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):

Cookies
This website is built on Wix, which sets cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to work correctly — for example, to keep the site secure and to remember basic session information as you browse. These cookies do not track you for advertising or analytics purposes, and no data from them is shared with third parties for marketing.
Because these cookies are essential to the website's operation, your consent isn't required for them under UK cookie law (PECR). I don't currently use Google Analytics, advertising cookies, or any other tracking technology on this site. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated to reflect it.
