Writing Services

As your Celebrant I can help, support and guide you through your choice of service:
Funeral Services
As an Independent Celebrant I would guide you through the funeral ceremony process. I will work with you and your Funeral Director creating a totally individual and unique service that incorporates the values of your loved ones, your memories and reflections.

These are normally conducted at your chosen crematorium, a natural woodland burial site or other venues like halls and hotels. The services generally last about 30 minutes unless you have arranged a double service.
As the services are not fully religious they are not held in religious venues.
Throughout the planning of the Funeral ceremony you will have the opportunity to change and amend any aspects and will see the final script in advance for approval.

Memorials
Memorials can be held on the same day as your loved one is put to rest or at a completely different time, the choice is entirely yours. Many people choose to say goodbye with a small intimate funeral followed at some time by a memorial service which involves their friends, extended family and colleagues.

The difference between a memorial and a funeral is that the coffin is not present so there are no elements of the committal. It is your choice to decide where to hold the memorial and what to include in the service with the agreement of the venue or landowners. Some people hold them indoors at hotels, pubs, golf clubs and others outdoors at a place that holds a special memory.

Memorials provide you with the ability to be truly creative, giving us the freedom to craft the perfect ceremony to honour your loved one including all the elements that are special to you. Memorials are not time limited so the service can be longer and include more people.

Celebrations of Life
Many people choose to remember the life of a loved one by having a celebration of their life. This can be included as part of the service and committal where the ceremony is very upbeat focussing on all the wonderful memories, perhaps wearing bright colours and celebrating the life of the person who has passed, or it may be held on a different day.

If held on a different day we can tailor the celebration to cover all the unique elements you would like included. Celebration of Life services are joyful occasions and are not focused on the sadder aspects.

Scattering of Ashes
Some people like to have a ceremony to scatter the ashes of their loved one. The scattering ceremony releases the ashes, freeing and letting them go. It is one step along the grieving process and can be held at various venues.
Families may choose to scatter ashes at the crematorium where their loved ones ceremony was held. Other people choose an approved venue that has meaning to the loved one they have lost, maybe a beach or a woodland site. You may decide to mark the occasion by having poems, songs or a reading. Symbolism and meaningful objects can be part of the crafted service and help bring peace to those attending.

Eulogies
Let me help you write a funeral speech, the eulogy, which encompasses your loved one’s life and reflects upon their life paying tribute and respect to their memory, their personality and their life.
As a Celebrant I am happy to write the eulogy and deliver it on your behalf or you or a family friend or colleague may wish to write the eulogy which can be read personally at the funeral ceremony, or I can deliver it on your or their behalf. It is most definitely an honour to write an eulogy and each one is individual, personal and unique.

Script Writing
If you decide that you wish to conduct the funeral ceremony yourselves, I can offer a bespoke service in helping you to write the script covering all the main elements of the ceremony.
